Srinivasa Ramanujan
Srinivasa Ramanujan,an Indian mathematician whose contributions in theory
of numbers cannot be forgot ever. Srinivasa Ramanujan was one of the world’s
greatest mathematicians. Srinivasa Ramanujan is remembered for his
unique mathematical brilliance, which he had largely developed by
himself.
Early life
He born in a small town,Erode present time Tamil Nadu on 22 December
1897.His father, Kuppuswamy Srinivasa Iyengar, originally from Thanjavur
district, worked as a clerk in a sari shop. His mother, Komalatammal, was
a housewife and sang at a local temple. They lived in a small
traditional home on Sarangapani Sannidhi Street in the town of Kumbakonam.
He got his elementary education in local school of Madras.
He also was known as having an
exceptional memory, and being able to recite digits of numbers like pi as
well as things like roots of Sanskrit words. When he graduated from high
school at age 17 he was recognized for his mathematical prowess, and given
a scholarship for college.
While in high school Ramanujan had started studying mathematics on his
own.
